The Moderate Drinker
This is the story of how I came to stop drinking a few years ago. This story is brand new. I’ve performed it exactly twice and here are the recordings of both live performances! The first is 8 minutes long, a video from GatherNYC. Filmed May 24th.
The second is a 13-minute version of the same story (for a salon with a longer time limit), recorded May 7th. This version lets the seams out of the story to allow for more context and thematic exploration.
Performed at GatherNYC May 24th 2026 at Museum of Arts & Design in Manhattan. Filmed by Luke Krafka. ❤️
Performed at Impact Theatre NYC’s Performance Salon, hosted by Greenhouse Ensemble Theater. May 7, 2026 at St. Michael’s Church, recorded on my phone.
I will continue to workshop and perform this story, probably landing on a draft that’s around 12 minutes long, as I parse what’s needed and what isn’t.

My pleasure, Emma, and of course I did! I never miss a vaccine.
Great story, Emma! I think I like the short one a little better, partly just because I can see you. But it's also a little more direct, although the longer one has some nice touches, like the yoga and your fear of undiagnosable diseases and the concern about children in the waiting room.
