The 'Global Boner' Story & Corporate Bikini
Two video excerpts from my recent show. (One gets interrupted by a 911 call.)
Our next The Mister Rogers Variety Hour show is coming up on September 21st, a Thursday night on the Lower East Side at Von Bar. (I’ll be sharing the ticket link and guests as soon as those are announced!)
Our last show was a few weeks ago and the theme was “illusions,” which I took, for my own literary purposes, to mean — misconceptions and falsehoods you hold onto throughout childhood and then — coming of age to find out what isn’t real.
As it is for all good writing prompts, we each ran fast and loose with this one to generate our show’s content.
Here’s one of the mini-stories I told, inspired by the theme of “illusions:”
The ‘Global Boner’ Story
And later in the evening, I shared a story called
Corporate Bikini
and, as ill-fortune would have it, an audience member of ours mixed pot edibles with liquor (as we later found out) and our show was halted by a necessary “paramedics’ intermission,” as they say, in the biz. (No one says this in any biz. But perhaps they could?) We decided we would end the show, but the audience asked us (my co-hosts and I) to continue, so we all had a check-in together — and we obliged. The patient was safe and in good hands, so the show went on. This experience was a new Girl Scout badge for me, for sure. Please enjoy the drama, both the intended and the unexpected.
Thanks for watching! If you’re not certified in CPR and First Aid… consider looking into it! https://cpr123.com/
And, hey! Don’t mix drugs! Pick a drug and commit to it! Or, if you can swing it, do no drugs!!! https://www.allencarr.com/
I’m playing catch up on all your stories. Your writing always makes me see a new perspective (the shift in body image was not quite the same as a guy). This video is also super impressive! It’s like someone paused Emma for a dramatic and scary commercial break about drugs and then you were able to quickly get right back into your flow seemingly with little effort! That is talent! Don’t let drugs steal the show! (Also very glad the person is ok)
